Yacouba Diarra is a creator and musician, 24 hours a day. The pandemic has not slowed him in any way. On sunny days you'll hear him, playing a Kora he made, on an Arcata street whether or not anyone stops to listen. He once told me that to what brings him joy is to be of service to the community.

I saw him on the street the other day and told him I was going to make this recording available on Sounds Of The Sanctuary. He said something like "Hmph, online, well, okay." Then he pointed at his head, and continued: "If one day they try to download my memory," paused for emphasis, then, with an indescribable facial expression he alone can make, that says he's dead serious and joking all at once, said "Crash."
